Virginia Scenic Railway

Experience the charm of Virginia's landscapes aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway, offering unique sightseeing excursions through the picturesque Shenandoah Valley and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.

Departing from historic downtown Staunton, passengers can choose between two distinct routes:

  • Alleghany Special: This westbound journey traverses rolling fields en route to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, turning around in the quaint hamlet of Goshen.
  • Blue Ridge Flyer: Heading east, this excursion offers the thrill of passing through the Blue Ridge Tunnel, carved deep beneath the mountain summit, before turning around in Ivy.

Each three-hour round trip includes a full meal, dessert, and a beverage served in a complimentary souvenir glass, all enjoyed within beautifully renovated 1940s passenger cars.

Tickets are priced at $120 per person, with trains operating Thursday through Sunday. Advance reservations are required and can be made on the official website.
